Socks Web Page

My Nicknames: Socksy, Plant Eater

Hi there! Welcome to my web page. My name is Socks. I am fairly new to the family as Mom and Dad adopted me last year from the Humane Society. I am so very happy to have gotten such a good home and I thank them everyday for it.

I am a real affectionate cat as Mom has said often. That is because I am very appreciative of my family and nice home.

As you can see by my pictures, I am a beautiful black cat with white paws, hence the name Socks. I know I had another name before that, but I just can't remember what it was.

I might not be the First Cat of the White House, but I have become the First Cat of this house. I love attention and constantly rub and lick Mom for attention and also to show her what a nice kitty I am. I love to follow her around and help her give the baby a bath and rock her to sleep. I always meow for attention.

Mom says I have really adjusted well to my new home, it is like she has had me for years. I love laps and can't give out enough kisses to the family. She really appreciates that I am good with Kathryn and don't slap her like Xena does. Kathryn loves to pet me and give me kisses.

Mom says that she loves my markings and reminds me of her past kitty Ebony, whom she had for 20 years. Just look at me in the picture to the left. She has always wanted a kitty named Socks.

Something that Mom and Dad discovered the first day I spent with them is I like to give kisses. Mom was surprised when I went up to her face and licked her a couple times. She said she has never seen a cat do that, but in the movies.

I am the type of cat that loves to explore high places. I have already checked out the window above the computer desk that is pretty high from the floor. I even scare Mom and Dad sometimes when I jump down from the fridge to the counter and they don't know I am there. I love to explore tables and countertops, although they have told me many times to get down. I just don't understand why.

Mom discovered I love water just like Xena does and she has already caught me drinking out of the bathroom sink as well as trying to drink out of one of her glasses.

I am a very curious cat and if a drawer is open I am there in it. Or a cupboard or any type of small opening. I just love to find new places to explore like the kitchen cupboards.

Something I have gotten in trouble for though is when I try to get into the food when they are making it for the baby! I don't know what the big deal is, I have to eat and they can't expect me to eat that cat food all the time, do they? I love human food! In fact, one time Mom caught me on the counter digging into her Tuna she had sitting out for her sandwich. Man that was good! She even gave me some afterwards although she said I was very naughty!

Something that Mom constantly gets after me about is I love to eat her plant. I have chewed on it and eaten some of it before and it made me sick. Mom said you would think I would leave it alone, but I love to chew on it! She has put it into a room that she won't let me into so I can't chew on it anymore. I don't see what the big deal is! I wouldn't touch it again, never!

When I lay I like to stretch out one paw, this gives me a sophisticated look and Mom thinks it is so cute! Take a look at this picture of me on the toilet. I love to join Mom and Kathryn every night when she gives her a bath! Pardon my squint, but that flash sure is bright!

Mom gets very mad at me when I chase and jump Xena. She was here before me, but I just can't help myself. If I see her, I usually take the opportunity to run after her and get her. Really I am just playing, but Mom says I shouldn't be doing that.

I just love the canned food they give me and if something falls on the floor, I am called the garbage disposal. I will eat anything from soup noodles to chicken nuggets. I love human food.

Guess what, I am now officially a camping cat! That's right, Mom and Dad thought I would be good to take camping and they were right. I am so laid back, I love being around them in the camper where I can always get attention and did so well on my first camping trip, they plan on taking me on many more. They put a collar on me though with a tag in case I were to get out. I really don't mind it at all except sometimes it itches! Look at me in the camper just taking it easy!

All cats have their flaws and mine is I am addicted to eating plants and brooms. That is right, I have a problem. Mom scolds me many times for eating her house plant and then throwing it up. I have also tried to eat bristles off of brooms. She says you would think I wouldn't do it since it makes me sick, but I just can't help myself. So they keep all plants away from me. Which is a shame, because I sure do miss my plant eating! Mom says it is really bad because some can be poisonous and she wouldn't want me to get really sick!

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to come back often. In the mean time, check out Xena's Web Page. And, read about Ebony, Mom's kitty whom she had for 20 years.

Also, check out my Photo Album. There are many more adorable photos of me there. MEOW!
