I Dream of Jeannie Libby Dolls

One of the oldest and I believe first dolls to be created from the show was the 1966 I Dream of Jeannie Libby Majorette Dolls. These dolls were produced in 1966 and have become increasingly popular with collectors.

You can see the Libby doll in the episode, titled, "My Master, The Author." This is the episode where Jeannie writes a book all about being a mother. Dr. Bellow's finds out about this book and Major Nelson claims he wrote it in order to prevent Dr. Bellow's suspicions from rising. In turn, Dr. Bellows sends his niece and nephew over to Major Nelson's house to see if what he supposedly wrote in his book was true, about how to handle children. You will see the Libby doll when Jeannie blinks it in for the very unhappy little girl who Major Nelson is taking care of.

I once believed that there were only a couple different variations of the outfits that were made for these dolls. However, recently, I have seen several different variations of the outfit ranging from color, material type, and overall design. Of course the two most popular and well known are the pink and green outfits.

Since I have started collecting, I have been able to obtain 5 Libby Dolls. Although, made by the same company and supposedly in a sense, the same doll, it seems that every doll I come across seems to be unique in its own way. Either the shoe color, the color of the outfit, the style, or the type of material is just a little bit different.

I have collected a variety of the dolls along with different outfits. One that I would like to obtain in the future is the doll with a gold color shirt and pant top along with a green veil and pants. I have heard that this is supposedly the most rarest of the Libby Dolls. Although, I once thought it was just the dolls wearing the green outfits (which I own two of).

While I have done some research for more information on these dolls, I am afraid I haven't had much luck. As it seems that information on the Libby company is hard to find. I would love to know exactly how many different variations of the outfit there was and anything else about the dolls. If anyone has any information, please pass it along! I would greatly appreciate it!

Here you see my first Libby Doll that I purchased. She comes with her complete outfit which is bright, looks almost brand new, and appears more red than pink. She has black shoes and is in MINT condition. She came with the original box which has seen its days, but still looks great, considering it is 36 years old.

This was my second Libby Doll that I purchased.

As you will notice, if you compare dolls with the one above, her outfit is quite a bit different. Her outfit is a deep pink. If you look closely at the pictures, you will see a difference in the pants and the top. The outfit with this doll closely resembles Barbara Eden's outfit from the first season of I Dream of Jeannie. The pants have a small part of pink in a somewhat leaf design at her waist. Her hat that holds the veil is also different and has more of a design on it then the one above. There is also a little flower that attaches her veil to her chest. I'd almost have to say too that the material has to be different. It has a bit softer feel than the one above and seems to lay differently on the doll. Her outfit is bright and beautiful. She comes with pink shoes to match her outfit.

This was my 3rd Libby doll that I purchased.

If you look closely, you will see that her outfit closely resembles the design of my first doll above, only, it is a green color. This outfit was made to resemble the green outfit Barbara Eden wore in a few of the episodes. She is complete in her green outfit along with black shoes.

Here is my fourth doll that I have collected.

I had originally thought that there was only one type of green outfit produced; however, recently I have seen different variations of the green outfit.

As you can tell, this doll closely resembles the doll above in the green outfit. But if you compare her top and the top part of her pants you can see that it is a different color. It appears more mint green where the doll above appears more dark green. However, the veil and the pants are very similar in color to the doll above. She is complete in her mint green outfit along with white shoes.

Here is my fifth and most recent doll that I purchased.

This doll closely resembles my first doll, except she has white shoes instead of black. Another thing unique about this doll is her box is in near mint condition. The cellophane is intact and it displays beautifully with some minor wear to the edges of the box. I have never seen a box in this great of condition.
