I Dream of Jeannie Books

On my quest to collect I Dream of Jeannie memorabilia I was always searching for the perfect book, anything that had to do with I Dream of Jeannie. In my quest, I came along a few books that were produced concerning the show.

Below you will see my books about I Dream of Jeannie that I have collected over the last several years. I hope to provide a little review (in my own opinion) about the book and who it was written by.

Diary of a Genie
by
Richard D. Barnes

This book titled "Diary of a Genie: A History of Sidney Sheldon's 'I Dream of Jeannie' From 1964 to Present" was written by Richard David Barnes and is copyrighted in 1995.

Several years ago, I had come across his web page (which is no longer around) and seen he had written some books on I Dream of Jeannie. Along with this book, I also purchased the Jeannie Guide which you can find below. I have both editions, soft cover edition and a hard cover edition.

This book is basically an episode guide told by Jeannie, as if it was her diary. It has a lot of great information about the show and you can tell that he did some extensive research. You can find many black and white photos from the show as well as cast information. There are also articles in there concerning the bottle, interviews with the creator and cast from the show, and all other kinds of information that any Jeannie fan would love to read about.

I actually have never read through to it's entirety, but do thoroughly enjoy the book. It was very creative how he told it from Jeannie's perspective.

Richard signed both books for me.

Going Hollywood: A Collector's Guide to Barbara Eden, IDOJ & Jeannie Guide
by
Richard David Barnes

This book (copyrighted in 1989) consists of two halves and was also written by Richard David Barnes. One half is a compilation of articles, ads, and weekly listings related to the show. The other has information about the collectibles from the show. Along with that is all kinds of information on places that you can look for I Dream of Jeannie memorabilia. It also contains information for other work that Barbara Eden has done.

Again, I haven't read this to it's entirety, but have enjoyed the book. I have also never contacted any places or people in there that he provided as having memorabilia from the show nor do I know if those places or people are still selling the stuff related to the show.

I Dream of Jeannie Sheet Music

I acquired this copy of I Dream of Jeannie Sheet Music when I purchased some collectibles from Richard David Barnes. This is a 4 page booklet which contains the music and lyrics to "Jeannie." Back cover not shown above.

Dreaming of Jeannie
by
Steve Cox with Howard Frank

This recently released book regarding I Dream of Jeannie is a favorite of mine. There is so much in this book that I am sure I have missed something and again didn't read it to it's entirety.

It has some wonderful color photos (as well as black and white) from the show, interviews with the cast, directors, and the creator. It also has some fun facts about the show and trivia. It is basically a history of I Dream of Jeannie. There is information about the bottle and even has a section concerning Bewitched vs. Jeannie. Along with all of that and much more there is an episode guide as well.

If you are a I Dream of Jeannie fan, I highly recommend this book!
