2006 Camping Trips

Our first camping trip for 2006 was to Wabasis Campground. This remains one of our favorite campgrounds for one reason because it has full hookup. This was our 2nd trip with our new camper. My parents joined us and stayed over night. Also, David's parents and Kathryn's cousin Timmy came out to visit for a day as well.

It was a beautiful day, although hot and in the 90's. Kathryn thoroughly enjoyed herself even though she got her very first scraped knees the day before when she fell down. I felt so bad for her. But that didn't stop her. She loves being outside and going for rides.

This was not only the first camping weekend of the year, but it was also the first camping trip for Mr. Turtle. Visit Mr. Turtle's page for more info about him. 48 years and he finally has gone camping. He loves to sit outdoors in his pool. Socks even joined us and loved being with us, although she was a bit scared of the turtle when we had to bring him in at night.

For our week long camping vacation we returned to Cadillac, Mitchell State Park this year. My parents joined us along with my aunt and uncle and some friends of theirs. The weather was beautiful and although we had a couple cool days, we really can't complain. We even got some time out on my husband's brother's boat and did some tubing. Kathryn enjoyed herself as usual and wore herself out many days from being outside so much!

It is a very busy park with many kids and dogs always around! Of course we made time for some scrapbooking and even though it was a nice time, I was ready to return home! Socks came and spent the week with us! She seems to love camping and can't get enough sleep in while she was there! Mr. Turtle also went along and I think he thoroughly enjoyed himself as he was outside in the nice sun all day long.

Our next trip was to Gun Lake, Yankee Springs Park. It is a nice park with fairly new bath houses. It was a very hot weekend in the high 90's with a lot of humidity. We spent most of the time in the camper in the air because it was so hot! Socks came as usual and enjoyed herself.

We have always wanted to try some new campgrounds and our next camping trip was to Holland State Park in Holland Michigan. This park was very close to Lake Michigan although not right on the lake, it was within riding distance of he Lake. We rode our bikes to the lake where there was a beautiful beach and a nice ice cream shop on the way.

Although it was a little bit of a drive, we enjoyed our stay here. The campground was fairly quiet. My parents joined us for the weekend. The weather was nice and we would plan on coming back sometime in the future.
